Freo Pysanky 2010
In February of 2009 I taught Tom and Max to make pysanky. While Tom enjoyed learning pysankarstvo, Max was entranced, and made five of them her very first time out I also taught her to varnish and empty the pysanky.
The eggs shown below are those made by the three of us; one is a Happy Birthday pysanka which I made for Max, who turned 10 on the 27th. All of the pysanky were made using brown eggs, as there are no white eggs to be found in Western Australia. Some were made on very light brown (beige) free range organic eggs; others utilized darker brown store brand eggs. (The drying board was made by her dad, Rene, using a pine board and bullet head nails.)
