Pysanka-making came relatively late this year–during the spring break, which put it after western Easter, which was quite early (March 23rd) and white (yes, there was still some snow....). Orthodox Easter was late this year, not coming until April 27th.
Still, it was “spring” break, so the kids were off school and we had a full house (only Kalyna couldn’t make it, as she was down south in Mississippi building houses for Katrina survivors). We had to set up a second (card) table in the hallway. With all the crowding, it’s amazing that more eggs didn’t get jostled and broken.
We even had a second session planned for the adults––most of whom chose to come to the first. So Nick and Maria joined in, and we had a quiet, friendly session with a few sightly older ladies.
