Велика Україна, aka “Greater” Ukraine, is generally taken to mean non-western Ukraine, i.e. that area was mostly under Russian rule after the Pereyaslav Treaty. Interpretations of what it includes vary a lot, but generally excludes Bukovyna, Halychyna, Zakarpattia and the Carpathian regions.  Volyn is sometimes considered western others not.

In this section I have excluded the western regions and Podillia; it is a purely geographical division--”Velyka Ukrayina” here is north, south, east and central Ukraine.
