Pictured here are pysanky I wrote in 2004, my first real “annual” photo. I took this photo indoors, using my new digital SLR on a tripod, with the pysanky spread out on a bedsheet.
It was all shot in the “Automatic” mode, as I hadn’t yet gotten the hang of using the manual settings on my new camera. My OM-2N had three of four things I needed to set; the modern SLRs have dozens. My friend Mike Shupe would take care of that a few weeks later when I visited him at the Studio Pizzeria in Houghton; he changed the settings on my camera and taught me how to use it properly.
