Snowflake Pysanky
Writing snowflakes on goose eggs isn’t any more difficult than on chicken eggs; I just write more of them, and make them smaller. The goose eggs in the photo above were written in 2021. Below I show show I write them in pencil and wax.
I used medium (8 1/2 inch) goose eggs, and created snowflakes in two to three sizes on each shell. I began by randomly placing 1” and 1 1/3” circles on the surface of the egg:
I then used the templates to divide the circles in 12, and drew a smaller circle in the center. Once the pencil work was done, I wrote a six petalled floret in the center of each circle in wax.
I then wrote individual snowflakes just as I would on chicken eggs. (To see my chicken snowflake eggs, and to learn how to write them, go here.)
You could also add some smaller 1/2 or 3/4 inch circles between the bigger ones; you can see examples on my 2022 goose egg. The central circle can also be made bigger or smaller.
The eggs are then dyed in a variety of colors.
