This was an instruction page explaining how to use the step-by-step designs. Preceding pages, not copied here, discussed Ukraine, Ukrainians, Easter traditions, and gave more detailed instructions on writing pysanky. 

Most of the designs available in the 1960s were simple black and white drawings of a finished pysanka; it was up to you to guess what colors belonged where.  This step-by-step design breaks down the pysanka writing process into steps, making it much more useful, especially for beginners. This type of design sheet was still new when the booklet first came out, but became the standard in alter years, evolving later into the computer designed, multi-colored designs in the later UGS design books.
