Elyjiw (Елиїв): Author of “Sixty Score of Ukrainian Easter Eggs.”  Zenon Elyjiw collected and preserved many traditional pysanka designs.

emu: large flightless Australian bird that lays dark green eggs.  Emu eggs are sometimes used in egg art, usually etching.  They are not found in traditional pysankarstvo.

etching: using an acid to remove the surface of a metal....or eggshell.

eternity line: a line without beginning or end, it is a common motif on pysanky.  It is known in Ukrainian as a “bezkonechnyk.”
