WA, WAS: Wax Art Supply, a Michigan-based seller of pysanka supplies. They are best known for producing the first widely available commercial electric pysachok.
washing back: removing the color from a dyed egg in order to further dye it. This is done when changing color families (red to blue, etc.), and can be accomplished with various soaps and detergents (dish soap, Simple Green, etc.).
water rinse: soaking a dyed egg in water to either lighten or remove a color. This is not a quick method, but is one way of creating pastel shades.
wax resist: the method used to create pysanky. It utilizes the ability of wax to “seal” in a color, and a series of dye baths. Commonly referred to as “batik.”
