Y

yellow rinse: using yellow dye to remove red so that the egg can then be dyed in green (or similar colors). This is useful when writing traditional pysanky. Gold dye (without vinegar) can be substituted.

yurok (юрок): a shepherd’s crook/staff.  This is the name sometimes given to the “S” motif, a symbol of the Zmiya.
