From the UAAMD blog, May 11, 2020

At the request of Chrystyna Nykorak, Dr. Luba Petrusha researched and recreated these traditional    designs from various towns and villages in Chernihiv:   Avdiyivka, Chernotychi, Dihtiarivka, Krasne, Krysky, Kudrivka, Kurylivka, Lavy, Loska, Masalayivka, Mizun, Osniaky, Pokoshychi, Syra Verba,  Volynka, and Zhuklia.   We have incorporated these pysanky in the Kozachychyna: The Forgotten Stronghold - Startodubshchyna exhibit which is ready for viewing.  Due to the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, the museum is closed to the public, but we hope to share with you virtually.

In Chernihiv, the predominant colors for decorating pysanky are white, red and black.  The typical designs in this region are delicate sun or plant ornamentation.  The most prominent design motifs include: hops, wildflowers and roses.   At times the background has unending or wavy lines.

Dr. Petrusha loaned  these pysanky to the Ukrainian American Archives and Museum for which we are very grateful.
