Курщина

Kursk region

Kursk is also in Sloboda, to the west of Voronizh, and has beautifully complex traditional designs. The region is known for its cross motifs; even though the crosses are pagan in origin, none were included in this Soviet era publication.

The crosses of this region are characteristically complex, as are the star motifs. The color schemes were simple, though, normally white/yellow/red with a dark (black or brown) background.  The blue pysanka below seems uncharacteristic.
