My Favorite Things:
Lazy Susan
I never had any lazy susans around the house when I was growing up. I remember seeing one at a chinese restaurant many years ago, and finding it quite useful–the dishes could be easily spun around so everyone at the table could share.
I noticed one at an Amish basket shop several years ago and bought it. It was beautifully made, and initially I wasn’t sure what to do with it. I put it on my desk and organized tape, pencils, pens, rulers, etc. in it, using a few coffee mugs and drinking glasses, and loved it. I bought another one, and used it to organize my pysanka supplies on my work table; it was great! Everything could be at my fingertips with just a spin. I have picked up several more since.
What do I keep in it? All sorts of tools. Traditional styluses, drop pull styluses, brushes, markers, scalpels, tweezers, even squirt bottles of various solvents. I use glasses from my bar* to organize my supplies: tall glasses, highball glasses, and some of my bigger shot glasses. It works amazingly well.
(* I think all 1950s rec rooms must have had a bar in them. Mine is made of knotty pine and came with bright red formica and several beer related plastic wall hangings.)
