Vadym Shcherbakivsky, Ukrainian archeologist, historian and ethnographer, wrote about pysanky in his published works. The plates below are from «Українське народне мистецтво. – Кн.3. – Орнаментація української хати» (“Ukrainian Folk Art - Volume 3 - Ornamentation of the Ukrainian House”), which was published in Rome, 1980.

The plates, below, depict pysanky from the Skvyra povit (administrative district), which corresponds roughly to the current day Skvyra raion.  It is in the far western part of Kyiv oblast, in right bank Ukraine, and bordering Zhytomyr oblast.  These pysanky are from 1906.
