In 2008, while making pysanky at my brother’s house with an assortment of small relatives, I created the first pysanka pictured below.  It was a very simple sorokoklyn design, and used what I thought were my niece Maria’s favorite colors, pink and purple.  Well, I was wrong about the colors (aunts can’t always keep up with the vagaries of tween fashion), but I really liked the pattern.

So I queried my nieces and nephew, and contacted all my cousins, to learn what all of my minor relatives favorite colors were.  And then I tried to make each a pysanka in those colors.  Some turned out better than others. The results are shown below.
