Goose Egg
In 2010, looking for a design to write for my nieces, I came across a really nice Sokal floral pysanka in Zenon Elyjiw’s book, 60 Score of Ukrainian Easter Eggs. The eggs turned out quite nicely, and I adapted the design to goose eggs. Below you see the results.
No two such pysanky are exactly alike...or even closely so I create the design by plotting out circles randomly around the egg, and then writing flowers of two types (daisy and “butterfly” types) in each one. I connect the flowers with vines, and add tendrils, buds and leaves into the gaps.
I’ve written some six of these pysanky so far, and given away all but one as gifts. Below are is one such egg.
