After writing the two “patchwork” pysanky on the previous page, I was eager to create more goose egg pysanky, as I was now the owner of several dozen goose eggs. 

While it is easy to find both photos and step-by-step patterns for chicken egg pysanky, the same cannot be said of goose eggs.  I pored through my books, and found a nice diasporan-style design in one of the Ukrainian Gift Shop “Design” books. I made a few small changes, not all of them on purpose, and ended up with the egg pictured above. 

It was my dad’s fathers’ Day gift in 2009......along with a large box of dark chocolates.
